Hello! *waves* Welcome to my travel blog!
I had literally three friends suggest I should start a blog
for my trip, and apparently that was all it took for me to do so. Am I a
narcissist?
I am fully aware and accepting that it might just be those three
friends and possibly my four immediate family members who will follow along. I’ll
be pretty content with just 3/4 family members to be perfectly honest. So, I
will not feel bothered in the slightest if that ends up being my total audience.
Love you guys.
So what am I doing.
I’m heading off! I have quit my job, sold my house, packed
up my life (I can’t understate the enormity of this task) and will be off
travelling until I either get sick of being away or my money runs out! I’m
looking forward to all kinds of adventures and experiences but (and this will
be a major shocker) there will be a spotlight on running everywhere I go and
finding the best running cities in the world – along with lots of other places
just for funsies. I’ll try not to ever say funsies again.
If you don’t think this sounds like a super interesting and
hecking good time, then this blog is not for you. As aforementioned, I’m
pretty sure this blog is for 7 people (and maybe another running nerd or two –
probably Nan as well actually *ahem* now 5 family members, wild) but if
you want to keep up to date on my travels please come along for my wordy ride!
I will be insta-ing plenty as well, I even bought my first selfie stick so you
could say things are getting pretty serious.
My Insta handle is Sandles17 if you do not follow and would like to.
And why am I doing this?
Well. The short story is that since a serious concussion in
2020 (what a headache amiright) I have felt like a different person. As if old
Sandy who has an incredibly strong sense of self and loves her life immensely
died and new Sandy was reincarnated. Unfortunately, new Sandy has lost all
sense of identity and no longer finds enjoyment or fulfilment in any of the
aspects of her previous life outside of running in circles (which probably
makes me a psychopath). After much soul searching I really didn’t find any
answers at all, only more questions! Sooo I decided the best course of action
would be to toss aside all of life’s responsibilities and travel independently
for a while (read: running far, far away) It’s very unSandy to live without
routine and structure and, like, a job but Sandy 2.0 is all about it! Byeeeee!
In the unlikely event that someone is reading that does not
already know me very well (I’m reaching for sure) – my name is Sandy, I’m 31
years old, previously employed as an Environmental Health Officer and spend
most of my free time running, at the gym and drinking coffee. And wine. I also
love comedy. I would spend a lot more time at the beach, but its too cold here to
#hotgirlsummer but I’m plucky and still try anyway. I also really like food. So,
I’m excited for all the upcoming miles I’ll run and carbs I will eat! There’s a
Little Italy everywhere yes? Spoiler alert: I am going to actual Italy
too #europesummer #noregrets #woooooo
But for now, welcome – talk soon x
